Alaska Smokefree Housing Partnership

The Alaska Smokefree Housing Partnership is working to eliminate secondhand smoke from the air you breathe by advocating for Smokefree Policies in public/ private/ tribal multi-unit housing, condos and single units, and to develop a statewide network to support citizens in living in smokefree environments. Some of our strategies include working with landlords, real estate disclosure laws, and providing education and outreach.

Although a small percentage of Alaskan renters currently live in a smokefree environment, many would prefer to do so.  Therefore, Alaska Smokefree Housing Partnership has chosen these goals:

  • To educate Landlords, Public Housing Authorities, Alaska Native Housing Authorities, Community Leaders and Health Professionals as to the advantages of Smokefree Housing.
  • To  provide Landlords with resources and materials to implement a smoke-free policy.
  • To educate and assist renters who are having issues with Secondhand Smoke exposure in their rental units.
